High preterm birth rate underscores the importance of continuing education on the care of premature and critically ill newborns

The 2023 March of Dimes Report Card on U.S. maternal and infant health, released in November, reported that the nation's preterm birth rate remains high. The rate of babies born before 37 weeks' gestation was 10.4% in 2022. Between 2012 and 2017, the prematurity rate was less than 10%. Since 2018, the prematurity rate has increased.
